Gov. Quinn Names Michael Howard "Environmental Hero"

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has recognized Michael Howard, founder and executive director of Eden Place Nature Center, with an Environmental Hero Award. He is one of 22 awardees selected for their work to make Illinois a “cleaner, greener and better place for everyone.”

Eden Place is the only nature center on Chicago’s South Side that offers youth and families a place to learn about native gardening and local farming, participate in local conservation efforts and gain access to locally grown fresh produce.

Mr. Howard and his Fuller Park Community Development Corporation are a sub contractor for the Weatherization Program of Greencorps Chicago, a partnership of the Chicago Department of Environment and WRD Environmental.
