Prairie Crossing Charter School Expansion

Prairie Crossing Charter School is the first LEED-certified school in Illinois. Located in the innovative Prairie Crossing Conservation Community, in Grayslake, the K-8 school features an ecologically based landscape that contributes to the school's sustainability while serving as a curriculum-based, hands-on learning lab.

WRD was project manager and landscape architect for the school’s $7 million expansion. Designed by Serena Sturm Architects, the expansion added 18 classrooms and a full-size gymnasium. 

With building construction finished, the landscape will be completed as funding becomes available.
