Lincoln Park Zoo - South Pond Master Plan

Farmland. City. Natural habitat. How do they successfully co-exist? WRD is part of a team that has developed ways to enhance the South Pond in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo to demonstrate how varied landscape types can relate to each other sustainably. The result will be a microcosm of sustainable solutions for the Midwest.

Techniques like recycling stormwater runoff, balancing the project’s cut and fill, and reusing materials in the landscape conserve resources and demonstrate the sustainable possibilities. 

The project lead is Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, with team members Studio/Gang/Architects, Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Teller Madsen and WRD Environmental.
