Sameera Savarala

Sameera is a consultant to the Chicago Department of Environment for the Chicago Conservation Corps (C3). She implements both the C3 Student Clubs program and the Environmental Leadership Training program, working primarily on school food and waste issues, and vermicomposting. She also helps C3 student clubs and leaders stay engaged in the program.

Previously, Sameera was one of Mayor Daley's Safe Routes Ambassadors for the Active Transportation Alliance and Chicago Department of Transportation, educating Chicagoans about the importance of safe urban biking and walking.

Sameera was selected to serve as a delegate to the 2011 United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and has been recognized as an Aspen Environment Forum Scholar.  She holds a B.A. in Psychology with Honors from the University of Kentucky, where she received a Presidential Scholarship. She has also studied sustainability at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.
